Choosing and caring for your Galurin
Which size to take, which style suits you and how to make a hat sewn from a fifty-year-old terry towel last.
What size
for my Galurin?
If you don't already know your head circumference, measure it before adopting your Galurin to avoid any disappointment. Ideally use a tailor's tape measure, or failing that a tape measure, a piece of string, a shoelace… The measurement should be taken where the hat will sit, i.e. across the middle of the forehead and around the bump at the back of the skull (normally 0.5 to 1 cm above the eyebrows and ears). Just like in the photo, make sure you can slip a finger between the tape and your forehead.
If you fall between two sizes, for extra comfort it's best to choose the larger size.
Note that for a given size, since each towel is unique — sometimes thin, sometimes thick — there can be slight variations in the inner circumference.
Size chart:
- S 52 to 55 cm
- M 56 to 59 cm
- L 60 to 63 cm

What's your Galurin style?
Gaston, Lucien or Firmin, take your pick
Gaston & Marcel

Lucien & Marius

Firmin

More of a “bob” cut…
Short brim, simple & timeless
Gaston and Marcel are short-brim hats that give a good 360° UV protection. The softness of the terry fabric pairs perfectly with the iconic shape of this hat, a symbol of popular culture. Easy to wear every day with their classic sportswear cut, they suit everyone. The Marcel, new for 2026, combine two different towels into a single harmony.
…somewhere in between…
My heart can't decide
The cut of the Lucien and Marius offers a perfect compromise between the “bob” and the wide-brim hat, and gives you total UV protection. Shade, coolness and style for hats that blend charm and ease. Easy to wear anywhere — on the beach, in the countryside or in town on a café terrace — they adapt to every occasion. The Marius, new for 2026, express the art of matching the colours and patterns of two towels that complement each other.
…or a wide brim?
Practical & elegant
With its wide brim angled downward, Firmin gives you optimal UV protection. This characterful hat, with its not-so-old-fashioned charm, brings the chic and elegance of a true fashion accessory. Sewn with or without a tie, the brim can also be turned up for a very on-trend “capeline” effect.

How to care
for my Galurin?
Your Galurin is handmade from vintage towels that are often more than fifty years old. To ensure it lasts, I recommend following a few simple care rules.
- Your Galurin can be machine-washed at 40°, but try to wash it as rarely as possible. Prefer spot cleaning and hand washing instead.
- After each wash, reshape it as quickly as possible, let it air-dry, and steam-iron it once dry.
- Never pull on a loose thread. Snip it off gently with small pointed scissors.
